Many holiday parks struggle to provide their customers with either WiFi hotspots for touring fields, site cafe and other public areas, or high quality home style broadband for static caravans.  Some of our customer cannot even receive high speed broadband into their office/reception at site from national suppliers.  This is where Signa Technologies can help.

With over 20 years of industry knowledge and experience in the broadband field, particularly specialising in design and installation of wireless networks in some of the most rural parts of the country, Signa has a few tricks up its sleeve in terms of bringing a solid broadband backhaul (internet connection) into a customer’s site, and then distributing the connection across their estate to meet their requirements for service offerings to their customers.  This is done in a cost effective and unobtrusive manner, working with the site managers to build a network that suits the aesthetics of the site as well as the functionality of the network.

Green Woods have teamed up with Knaresborough based Signa Technologies, to embark on bringing high speed internet to their parks so they can offer both touring and holiday home customers high quality internet access.

Martyn Boswell, Managing Director of Signa Technologies said “we are delighted to be working with Green Wood Parks on this project.  Green Woods could see that by offering this extra service this will attract new customers but also help retain repeat business.

The service we are able to install in the parks gives flexibility to offer WiFi hotspots for the touring fields and public areas such as the bar, but also a robust fixed wireless solution for the seasonal statics and hire fleet.  The fixed wireless service provides a home from home service by way of an antenna fixed to the outside of the van with a wired router inside, which delivers high quality internet service to customers so they can enjoy streaming services such as iPlayer, Netflix and access to online gaming such as Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.

Martyn continues “a lot of the seasonal static customers bring their mobile dongles with them but this requires a strong mobile signal and they often have data caps on usage, so they don’t always deliver what the customer needs.  Our service offers a reliable continuous connection and no monthly data limits, so it is much better value for money”.

Paul Finch, PA to the Director of Green Wood Parks, stated “we were aware that more and more caravan parks are offering internet services so we knew we needed to start thinking about implementing a solution across our estate.  Signa Technologies offered us a great service from survey and design, to installation and commissioning of a solution that fit our requirements.  This meant a solid network that did not require digging up the park to lay cables or erecting huge unsightly masts.  Signa worked with our existing street furniture and service buildings and worked closely with the management staff at the sites, to deliver a system that would not distract from the beautiful surroundings we have worked hard to create across our parks.”

Both the North Yorkshire parks, Tollerton Caravan Park near York, and Thirkleby Hall Caravan Park near Thirsk, are fully installed and operational and ready in time for the summer holidays.

Paul continues “this is a very busy time of year for us, so we are interested to see how take-up of the new service goes over the summer holidays for our touring fields and hire fleet.  We have already seen a healthy interest from our seasonal static customers who have started to sign up for the new service so it is very encouraging.  We look forward to working with Signa Technologies at our other parks over the coming months.”
