Home from Home
Many holiday parks struggle to provide their customers with either WiFi hotspots for touring fields, site cafe and other public areas, or high quality home style broadband for static caravans. Some of our customer cannot even receive high speed broadband into their office/reception at site from national suppliers. This is where Signa Technologies can help.
With over 20 years’ of industry knowledge and experience in the broadband field, particularly specialising in design and installation of wireless networks in some of the most rural parts of the country, Signa has a few tricks up its sleeve in terms of bringing a solid broadband backhaul (internet connection) into a customer’s site, and then distributing the connection across their estate to meet their requirements for service offerings to their customers. This is done in a cost effective and unobtrusive manner, working with the site managers to build a network that suits the aesthetics of the site as well as the functionality of the network.

What is it? Fixed Wireless is exactly what it says, think of it as wireless telephone lines that invisibly transmit superfast fibre-like speeds from access points placed around the park to a caravan, lodge or office. Historically most holiday parks offer a Wi-Fi hotspot style service. Whilst this works great for public areas like clubhouses, cafes and touring fields, it doesn’t work well inside the static caravans themselves.
Why is this? Static caravans are essentially a big metal box, which bounces radio wave signals away. The only way a wireless signal can enter the van is through large windows. The problem with this is that modern caravan manufacturing now installs insulated glass that also bounces signals away from the van.
How does it work? We attach a small discrete antenna to the outside of the caravan, we then run a cable, usually behind the guttering to hide it, to the inside of the van. We then install a small wireless router, which acts the same as your router at home. This transmits the wireless signal from inside the van to give you consistent high-speed internet, essentially providing a home-from-home service.

Signa Hotspot and Wi-Fi Solutions
Signa Technologies can survey, design and install a Wi-Fi hotspot system that fits your business needs. Wi-Fi hotspots are ideal for touring fields, clubhouses and other onsite facilities.
We offer several models for our clients such as:
- Scenario 1 – You pay for the service to be installed and offer your customers a free Wi-Fi service wherever you see fit.
- Scenario 2 – You pay for the service to be installed and have a payment portal to collect revenue direct from customers who log onto the Wi-Fi.
- Scenario 3 – We pay for the network to be installed and collect the revenue from the payment portal from client’s customers who log onto the Wi-Fi.
There are obviously advantages and disadvantages to each of the above scenarios, we appreciate that one size certainly doesn’t fit all requirements that is why we highly recommend you sit down with our project team so we can understand your needs.
In terms of subscription packages we can offer, this is determined by the needs of the park and the end customers and we can work around the seasons of the park. We offer weekend, weekly, monthly and annual subscription packages tailored to individual parks.
